Deze monsterlijke bijen maken de lekkerste honing van Eronvé. Wanneer een korf aan Seillean zich klaar maakt om zich voort te planten gaan ze op jacht naar zoogdieren. Over het algemeen zoeken ze naar wilde katten, vossen en dergelijke, maar als ze denken een mensachtige te kunnen overmeesteren zullen ze het zeker proberen. Met dodelijke steken van hun angel schakelen ze hun prooi uit en nemen deze dan mee terug naar hun korf. Daar worden de lijken in incubatiekamers gelegd, die gevuld worden met een preserveringsvloeistof uit een keelzak van de werkers. De koningin van de Seillean legt dan een ei in het lijk, waar over de volgende paar maanden een nieuwe werker of prinses uit groeit. Hoe groter het dier dat gebruikt wordt, hoe meer voedsel de larve heeft, en hoe groter de nieuwe Seillean wordt. Als morbide tribuut draagt de nieuwe Seillean het gezicht van het dier dat haar leven heeft geschonken.
Many creatures by nature are efficient when it comes to resources. Strategically acquiring and carefully using them, not wasting a bit. It is a must, essential to survival and thus perfected by many species. However, when it comes to efficient recycling, no beast on land or in the sky can top the Seillean. It has long been known that certain rare bee species recycle their deceased sisters. Entombing their exhausted bodies in wax alongside a fresh egg. A rebirth of sorts. It is speculated that perhaps Seillean are created this way. When a small vertebrate, a mouse or perhaps a frog, would make their way over to the hive and fall prey to its inhabitants paralysing stingers. Only to be entombed within the hive. A natural process. Merely some instincts spinning wildly out of control. That might be all it takes. Others speculate the Seillean may be a different species altogether. A magically created one, even. A mishap of the gods. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time. Seillean come in a lot of different shapes and sizes. In their body plan, they resemble bees. Being made of recycled vertebrates however, they carry a lot of their original host species characteristics. Sheillean often approach the size of their host creature, ranging between small frogs to being as large as a fully grown bear. Their wings can take on a bird-like, feathery appearance in the larger individuals, despite being made of membranes only. All Seillean carry remnants of their hosts skeleton on their body as an addition to their natural armour, for bone is one of the few tissues Seillean venom cannot properly dissolve. For anyone with knowledge of skeletons it is often not hard to guess what creature a Seillean has previously been by taking a peek at their heads, where the host’s skull is worn as a morbid trophy.
